How long have you been with Coalition Roleplay?:
I have recently joined the server, and admittedly have not been on for long as of yet.
How long have you been playing HL2RP?:
Though it has been a while since I last played actively, I would consider myself a veteran of the gamemode.
In-Game Name: Henry Lancaster
CID: 93120
Provide a RP example of a UCA unit fighting a lone rebel in an apartment building.
It had been mere minutes since a loyalist had reported seeing a man enter apartment B3 with a pistol, and already the polished jackboots of UCA units could be heard ascending the wooden staircase. The citizens had been ordered to assemble in the building’s lobby, wherein all those who complied were currently being searched by a team of ground units. The breaching team, consisting of a sergeant and a standard unit, made their way to the door of apartment B3. The unit stood against the wall, his USP Match gripped tightly in his hand, while the sergeant switched off the safety on his MP5, set the breaching charge, counted off the fuse’s timer in his head, then inhaled deeply.
“<:: Three… Two… One… Inject.”
With a loud bang and a cloud of smoke, the door swung inwards as its latch was torn asunder by the charge.
“<:: On the floor, now!” The unit and the sergeant ran into the room, weapons ready. They could make out the man’s form through the smoke, shakily clutching a revolver. The sergeant spoke again as the smoke cleared.
“<:: Drop the gun!”
Now able to see the intruders, the man panicked. He saw the units’ weapons trained on him, and he knew that he could expect little mercy from them. He pulled his trigger back, and the sharp crack of the pistol’s report echoed through the building’s hallway and stairwell. His bullet dealt the sergeant a blow to the abdomen, just missing his kevlar, and he fell to the ground, clutching at his wound. In the time it would have taken for the man to pull back the hammer to fire once more, the unit had already fired, hitting him square in the chest. When the man fell, the unit rushed over to grab his gun, ensuring it was out of the wounded rebel’s reach. He radioed in as he produced a ziptie from his belt.
“<:: 10-15 and reporting 10-99, over.”
Provide a RP example of a UCA unit detaining a man for assault.
Rations had just been distributed, and while one would typically expect the citizens to be at their most placid after being fed, things were taking a turn for the worse. A wiry and unkempt man had pressed another against the brick wall, who was curled away from him in an attempt to prevent the aggressor from taking the ration packet in his clutches.
“Give me the food, or I swear to God I will smash your thick skull against that wall until something breaks!”
Fortune was not in favour of the attacker, for a patrol was passing by when a unit’s ears caught the man’s threats. He looked in the direction of the scene, then to his patrol partner, who gave him a nod. The two of them strode towards the spectacle, unhooking their batons from their belts.
“<:: Alright you lot, disperse!” Yelled one of the units, sending the gathered bystanders scuttling off so as to avoid being caught up in whatever was about to unfold. One unit watched the situation and the street, his pistol unholstered and ready for use should it be needed.
“<:: Oi! You there! Step away from the citizen!”
The victim of the assault looked up, new hope bright upon his bloodied face as help arrived. He gave the attacker a hard shove, throwing him back a bit. As the man prepared to grapple with his victim once more, ignoring the unit’s orders, he gasped and fell over forward as his back was struck swiftly and hard by the unit’s stun baton. The unit on guard kept his gun trained on the man as his comrade ziptied the suspect’s wrists behind his back. The unit looked to the bloodied victim.
“<:: You’re free to go,” he said, then turned to the other unit. “<:: Ripcord.”
Provide a character backstory with three paragraphs minimum:
Henry Lancaster was the son of Stephen J. Lancaster, a wealthy investor heavily involved in many pharmaceutical and research companies, among them Black Mesa Research. Henry quickly learned that finance was not for him, and with his father’s blessing decided to study pharmacology. Between his studies and his father’s frequent travels, the two gradually saw each other less and less, but when they did meet a single topic monopolized their conversations: Transcendence.
Perhaps he was simply a believer from the start, or perhaps he had overheard whisperings regarding findings in the Xen Borderworld- but whatever the cause, the elder Lancaster was convinced that humanity’s only way forward was through the intervention of an outside force, one which would elevate mankind to new levels of intelligence, new planes of existence, and immortality. He and Henry would speak for hours on end, the young man gradually coming to share his father’s convictions, though he treated it as an exercise in speculation. It was inconceivable that any of what his father said could ever happen, and he was certain that the ageing man knew this too.
As his meetings with his father grew less frequent and his classes became more demanding, Henry rarely thought about the matter. It wasn’t until he saw the lights in the sky, portals tearing open the heavens above Oxford, that his mind began to run once more down that well-worn path. Streaming forth from the electric blue gash in the night sky were the harbingers of Transcendence, the ravings of a lunatic made manifest flying in v-formation before disgorging otherworldly cybernetic hosts. As his world burned all around him and his every instinct told him to panic, Henry Lancaster’s heart sang for joy- Transcendence was upon him.
Will you read the handbook?:
Certainly.
In at least four sentences, describe why you want to be in the Union Civil Authority:
With each passing day, it becomes more and more apparent to me that we are at one of the great turning points in human history. The Union brings us gifts beyond that which we could ever achieve on our own, and simply asks our loyalty and obedience in return. I understand that we must prove our worth, and as such I cannot bear to sit idly by while those who reject these gifts threaten to destroy the opportunities given to the True Citizen. If humanity is to be allowed to enjoy the full bounty of the Union’s gifts, then it must be guided there by the UCA, those paragons of loyalty who devote their lives to ensuring humanity becomes worthy of all that awaits us. I feel that I would be best able to serve the Union by joining the ranks of those who work to ensure our collective future.
In at least four sentences, describe what will you bring to the Union Civil Authority:
I, Henry Lancaster, can promise only my total and unwavering loyalty to the Universal cause. Any orders I receive shall be executed without question or delay, and all protocol outlined in the Union documents shall be followed to the letter. I shall act as a role model for the True Citizen, and I shall protect the Loyal. My pharmacology training, though limited to what was known to pre-Unionized human medicine, will also be at the disposal of the UCA should I be called upon.
What does the Universal Union mean to you?:
The Universal Union represents the greatest enterprise to ever exist, reaching beyond the boundaries of our meagre world. The Universal Union is a grand, collaborative effort which transcends species and world, joined together with the common goal of uniting all disparate intelligent beings together in the service of peace and prosperity. Mankind was chosen to join this noble cause, and it is only the most small-minded individual who could fail to realize the selflessness demonstrated by the Union in this endeavour: humanity has so little to offer compared to the mighty Union, and yet still they pour gifts of technology and peace ceaselessly over us. To me, the Universal Union is beyond a simple political entity, beyond the vastest coalition. It is a purpose, for both myself and for all humanity.
